10 Jun Case Study – Biofeedback Intake
Biofeedback Intake: toddler, age two.
Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD) was noticed at 1 month and presented significant challenges, well into the toddler stage.
- Breastfed for almost 2 years as he was intolerant of most foods.
- Diet consists mainly of chickpeas and miso.
- Would throw himself on the floor, crying within 15 to 20 minutes after eating.
- Lots of flatulence, loose stools (mostly diarrhea).
- Constantly woke during the night, screaming and crying.
- Not interested in playing, preferred watching videos (distraction?).
- Would not nap.
- Often screamed and cried throughout the day.
- Mom was exhausted! She had tried numerous ways to help her baby, with no success.
Biofeedback Sessions:
During the first visit, in order to settle him down enough to do the testing required, initially worked on Anxiety and Depression. He settled down somewhat within a few minutes and I was able to proceed.
In this child’s case, I had to use long-distance (Meta Space) biofeedback, even in the office as he would not sit still during the session.
Results:
To date, he has had 7 treatments. Here’s the mother’s report at the start of the 8th treatment:
“Overall, he is doing marvelously. Pain is still there, however not frequent. Starting to introduce more foods, gradually. Emotionally he is doing incredible – happy, sings and wants to play. His interest in watching videos has greatly decreased and is preferring to play. Seldom has diarrhea and stools are improving in consistency. Sleep has greatly improved.”
Follow up testimony from mom:
With the support and assistance of Mary Anne, my 2-year-old son, who was having multiple emotional breakdowns per day, and even bouts of depression after being weaned off of nursing, is now completely emotionally balanced, happy, energetic and thriving!
With Mary Anne’s help, he is also sleeping much better, his digestion has improved, and he is able to cope much more with the condition of reflux that he has had since shortly after birth. My son was also experiencing consistent diarrhea which is now gone.
When Mary Anne first started to see him, my husband and I were having personal problems due to stress from these issues. After 3 months, it is so easy and fun to care for our little guy, and we don’t experience these stresses any longer. Incredibly grateful to Mary Anne. Thank you. C.E.
